Office of Technology Transfer
As the Navy's corporate laboratory, the Naval Research Laboratory (NRL)
possesses a unique combination of interdisciplinary technical resources
that is available to work with private industry. Through the Office
of Technology Transfer, NRL is successfully pursuing an aggressive and
varied course to insure that it's scientific and technical capabilities
are made available to the commercial sector. The major mechanisms for
accomplishing this goal are the licensing of NRL's patented intellectual
properties, the use of Cooperative Research and Development Agreements
(CRADAs), and a variety of other miscellaneous collaborative agreements.
These mechanisms not only provide for success in transitioning technology
outside the laboratory, but also for the important flow of research ideas
into NRL and the identification of key industry problems.
In the following linked pages, information is available describing the
most effective ways for private companies to benefit from the technical
resources of NRL and how to begin such interactions. An extensive database of
NRL's intellectual property available for licensing is also provided. In
addition, a compilation of the unique research facilities available at NRL
is now online.
